First, I taught
the first English lesson reading and writing the /r/ sound for
grade 1-C ( Female of 6 years old and they are 25 students ) on Tuesday 11th,
November, 2014, and all my activities about /r/ sound but
each group did different activity for example: the first blue group (LAPS)
they wrote the letter (r), they found the words started with /r/ sound and
colored it also they used letter tiles to made a word like (rabbit, rug,
rainbow…). The second green group (MAPs) they matched pictures with names and found
the missing letter and wrote it. The third red
group (HAPs) they wrote sentences started with
/r/ sound and when they finished they draw pictures started with /r/ sound.
Second, I started to teach them the /r/ sound on PPT and I act like rabbit and robot… And all of them follow me WOW they loved it. I asked them if they knew a word started with /r/ sound and they answered me fast. After that I taught them how to write the /r/ sound properly then I gave them the activities, they started to do them and I went around to their tables to see if they want help or not all the lesson took about 30 minutes.
Third, in the middle of the lesson some students interpreted me they asked for a bathroom I let one or two students to go but I notes that all the students want to go so I remand them about the rules " in the carpet no water no bathroom" and all of them sat in the carpet. Then all the students discussed the activities between of them as groups and I found a problem that some of the students asked me for help because they didn't understand how to find the missing letter knowing that all the words in front of them.
Finally, the time is finished and I said tidy up to all students but some of them took a long time to tidy up so I had to repeat for tidy up and I said "123 eyes on me" to listen and all of them did it.
The positive aspects for the lesson that they understand the /r/ sound, how it look like and how to write it also what kind of words started with /r/ sound. When I finished my lesson I gave them a star sticker as a rewords for them also I clapped for them and they did the same. For me I learn a lot from my MST and I worked hard to improve the lesson and myself. Thank you Mr. Serge and Ms. Jennifer and I'm sorry to disturb both of you and calling you a lot.
Sounds like you did a great lesson, Mariam. What did YOU learn from teaching this lesson?
